American Exports: Grella loaned to Swindon

Mike Grella helped Leeds United to a Championship promotion, but needs to find the net to get playing time.

AMSTERDAM – Leeds United forward Mike Grella has been loaned out to League One side Swindon Town for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old New York native, who has made just two appearances for the Whites this Championship season, had three goals in 10 games during successive short loans to Carlisle United earlier in the campaign.

Grella appeared to be off to Scottish top-flighters Motherwell to complete the term, but registration issues halted that loan move and he's scrambled to turn up at Swindon.

"I am glad to have got everything sorted," he told the official club website. "I joined the guys for training this morning for the first time and it's great to see a few familiar faces again. I have settled in straight away."

Grella has been named to the provisional squad for Swindon's Saturday trip to Southampton. The Robins, who are currently winless in 10, stand one spot and one point above the League One trap door.
