AMSTERDAM — Brad Friedel needed just one save to best former employers Aston Villa on Monday night, backstopping Tottenham up to third place in the EPL with a 2-0 victory.
With former understudy Brad Guzan watching from the away bench, the 2002 World Cup hero extended his league unbeaten run to nine games with eight wins. During the streak, Friedel has conceded seven times and just once before halftime.
Emmanuel Adebayor's first period brace gave Spurs all the offense they'd need, with Friedel making his lone stop on Emile Heskey just after intermission.
