Toronto FC midfielder and Honduras captain Amado Guevara is one step closer to realizing his World Cup dream. His Los Catrachos beat Trinidad & Tobago 4-1 on Saturday in a qualifying match for the 2010 Finals in South Africa.

Guevara scored at the 61st minute, sandwiched between a Carlos Pavon brace and a David Suazo goal. Kerry Baptiste returned a lone strike for T&T. Guevara played for 71 minutes before being substituted for Edgar Alvarez.

The win puts Honduras atop the six team CONCACAF table on level with the United States at 13 points. Top three teams will qualify automatically for 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Guevara will now lead Honduras into Estadio Azteca for a match on Wednesday against the powerful Gold Cup champions Mexico, as World Cup qualifying matches continue around the globe at midweek.
