Philadelphia Union midfielder Alejandro Bedoya has withdrawn from the US national team camp ahead of this month's international friendlies, after straining a rib muscle in MLS play over the weekend.
US Soccer announced Bedoya's withdrawal on Monday, ahead of Friday's match against Cuba in Havana -- the two sides' first friendly meeting on Cuban soil since 1947.
Bedoya was injured and had to be subbed off in the 52nd minute of the Union's 3-2 loss to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday. His withdrawal leaves US coach Jurgen Klinsmann with 22 players available for Friday's match and a friendly against New Zealand on October 11 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
