Against Tampa, the Crew fielded the same starting line-up as it did in its match against the U.S. U-20s on Feb. 14, as new coach Robert Warzycha looks to solidify his rotation now that the squad is nearing full strength.
Midfielder Emmanuel Ekpo tallied his first goal of the preseason, as Robbie Rogers sprung him loose for the match's opening goal in the 11th minute. Brian Carroll notched the Crew's second goal on an unassisted score in the 46th minute.
A completely new line-up took to the field for the match vs. Central Florida, and the Crew proceeded to light up the scoreboard with six goals during the hour-long session. Kevin Burns, who made his return to the field after sitting out all of last season with an ankle injury, tallied for the Black & Gold in the 20th minute, and was followed by a goal from veteran midfielder Duncan Oughton in the 44th minute, off another assist from Lenhart. The Crew next got goals from two of its current trialists, Ty Shipalane in the 52nd minute and Jordan Seabrook in the 57th minute, before fourth-year forward Jason Garey capped things off just moments before the final whistle by capitalizing on an Alex Grendi corner kick for the Crew's sixth and final goal of the match.

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Crew picked up its first preseason victory of 2009 with a 3-1 win over the U.S. Under-20 National Team at the IMG Academies.
The Crew tallied its first goal in the 37th minute, when Alejandro Moreno was taken down in the penalty box by a U.S. U-20 defender. As usual, Guillermo Barros Schelotto calmly stepped to the penalty spot and put the Crew up 1-0, for the only score of the first half.
After the first 60 minutes of play, the Crew brought on a completely new line-up for the match's final third, and the group responded with two goals of its own. In the 74th minute, the Crew's third round selection in the 2009 SuperDraft, midfielder Alex Grendi, sent in a corner kick which found the head of trialist Anthony Peters, who sent the header into the back of the net for the match's second goal.
Midfielder Brek Shea, a member of FC Dallas, scored the U-20's lone goal in the 83rd minute, but the Crew responded with a final goal in the 89th minute when Grendi again sent a corner kick into the mixer. After a brief scrum, Steven Lenhart came away with the ball and blasted a close range shot into the back of the net for the final 3-1 margin.
