TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signings

The Colorado Rapids announced two Homegrown Player signings on Tuesday, inking Wake Forest defender Sam Raben and UCLA winger Matt Hundley to guaranteed first-team contracts. The duo are the ninth and tenth HGPs in club history and were unveiled at a press conference at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

“Today we take another step forward with the signings of Colorado natives Sam Raben and Matt Hundley,” said Rapids executive VP and GM Padraig Smith in a statement. “With the support of their families and our academy coaches both of these young men take the next step in their professional careers.”

Raben, 21, hails from Greenwood Village, Colorado and played for the Rapids’ U-18/19 team in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy as well as their U-23 side in PDL (now USL League Two) play over the past two years. He made 91 starts for a strong Wake Forest side at the NCAA level, 46 of which were clean sheets for the Demon Deacons.

A native of Littleton, Colorado, Hundley also featured for the club’s U-18/19 DA team, and went on to lead UCLA in scoring in his sole season of college play with five goals and seven assists. A US youth international, he is currently taking part in this month’s US youth national teams January camp in Florida under Tab Ramos as part of the U-19 squad.
