The Montreal Impact are bringing back a familiar face.
The club announced on Sunday they have signed midfielder Hernan Bernardello, who returns after spending parts of the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Impact.
"We are very happy to have come to terms with HernĂ¡n and to bring him back with the Impact," said Impact technical director Adam Braz in a team statement. "We wanted to add this central midfield profile to our roster. He meets our needs."
The Argentine re-joins after helping Spanish club Deportivo Alaves get promoted to La Liga last season.
Bernardello, 29, made 18 MLS regular season appearances and one MLS Cup playoff appearance in his time with the Impact. He also helped Montreal win the 2014 Amway Canadian Championship, and played for the Impact in the CONCACAF Champions League.
After leaving the Impact, Bernardello played for Liga MX side Cruz Azul in 2014-15, before moving back to boyhood side Newell's Old Boys and then making the move to Alaves earlier this year.
