Orlando City SC 2, San Jose Earthquakes 2 | 2016 MLS Match Recap

Shea Salinas scored deep into second-half stoppage time to secure a 2-2 draw for the San Jose Earthquakes with Orlando City SC on an emotional Saturday night at Camping World Stadium.

Seb Hines broke the scoreless draw for Orlando City SC (3-3-8) in the 66th minute with an open header at the edge of the six-yard box off an Adrian Winter corner kick.

Chad Barrett, a second-half substitute, equalized five minutes from full time, heading in a Salinas cross.

Julio Baptista, who also came on in the second half, appeared to strike for the late winner for the Lions with a shot from 17 yards out, but Salinas came up with the equalizer in the final seconds of second-half stoppage time.

In its first match since a 2-2 draw against New York City FC on May 29, Orlando City SC stretched its unbeaten streak to four games, while the Earthquakes (5-4-6) are now winless in four straight games.
First responders were part of an elaborate pre-game ceremony, which included both teams entering the field to the Beatles classic “All you need is love,” rather than the MLS anthem.

The game was halted for a minute’s silence in the 49th minute to honor the victim’s of last Saturday’s shooting.

Three Things

1. Fitting tribute

The victims of last Saturday’s shooting were remembered and honored throughout the game, from an emotional pre-game ceremony, to a minute’s silence in the 49th minute. The sentiment was shared by the Orlando Pride in their match against the Washington Sprit.

2. Say Hey Shea
Shea Salinas placed his stamp all over the draw for the Earthquakes, first setting up Chad Barrett and then scoring the equalizer in the waning moments of second-half stoppage time. It was his first multi-point game since registering two assists in a 5-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on August 19, 2015.
3. Off the bench, on the scoresheet

Salinas wasn’t the only substitute to have an impact on the game. Chad Barrett came on in the 78th minute to score the late equalizer after Julio Baptista, who entered the match in the 62nd minute, put Orlando City SC ahead.
