Yet another Italian appears to be eyeing MLS, with Zenit St. Petersburg left back Domenico Criscito telling an outlet that he’d consider playing in the league.
The 29-year-old Italian international told Calcio2000 that he’s currently happy playing in Russia, but that he couldn’t rule out a future move to MLS.
“I am happy here, playing abroad has always been an obsession for me, so I can’t exclude I’ll be moving somewhere else in the future.”
“I am very attracted by America and MLS, so I’d listen to potential suitors from there, should they be interested in signing me.”
Criscito, who also indicated that he wouldn’t mind making a move back home to Italy, spent five seasons in Serie A before moving to Russia in June 2011, making 124 league appearances in stints with Juventus and Genoa. He’s played 143 times across all competitions in four-and-a-half seasons with Zenit, helping the club to the 2011-12 and 2014-15 Russian Premier League titles.
Criscito has 22 career caps with the Italian national team, most recently getting called to the Azzurri for their Euro 2016 qualifier against Bulgaria last September. A member of Italy's squad at the 2010 World Cup, he played with Toronto FC star Sebastian Giovinco while both were coming through the Juventus reserves.
