The Portland Timbers arrived home on Monday, after winning 2015 MLS Cup in Columbus, and were greeted by a huge crowd at the airport. Those in attendance serenaded the team as they stepped into the room.
It was a welcome befitting a league champ, and the gesture wasn't lost on Timbers head coach Caleb Porter.
"Honestly I dreamt of this," he said. "It honestly motivated me to one day bring a trophy here, and I had visions of this. But this exceeds anything honestly that I could have had in a dream, this is unbelievable. We have the best fans in Major League Soccer. I’m so proud to be a part of this community, to raise my kids here and I hope I stay here forever and continue to raise more trophies"
"This is special, special. We made history, and I’m really, really proud to bring this trophy back for Portland," Porter added.
"And I’m so happy I can make a community feel the way they feel because life is about feeling, it’s about emotion and that we could make people feel like they feel today is incredible."
