The hulking center back joined Crew SC towards the end of the 2015 season, helping the club reach the MLS Cup. Sauro's ability in the air is among the best in the league. After missing the entirety of 2017, Sauro made a triumphant return last year as part of what was a center back rotation.
OUTSIDE MLS: Before heading to Switzerland, Sauro spent four years at Boca Juniors in his native Argentina, where he made a total of 16 appearances. He made his professional debut with the club on April 12, 2009 with a start against Estudiantes in the 2008-09 Torneo Clausura. In 2011-12, his final season with Boca Juniors, he was a part of the squad that won that season's Apertura. He played two campaigns for Swiss giant FC Basel after joining the club ahead of the 2012-13 season and the 2014-15 season on-loan with Calcio Catania in Italy's Serie B, where he made 27 appearances (21 starts).
