MLS Experience

2019: D.C. United acquired Chris Seitz through a trade with the Houston Dynamo prior to the 2019 season. The goalkeeper made his competitive debut for the club in the 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on June 12.  The 32-year-old played in the next match against the Red Bulls in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on June 19. Seitz made seven saves though United were defeated 2-1. Seitz played in one MLS match in 2019, contributing a two save performance during the 4-1 victory over FC Cincinnati on July 18.

2018 (Houston Dynamo): In 2018, Seitz started six games for the Dynamo. The goalkeeper started on Opening Day of the season and kept a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Atlanta United FC on March 3. Seitz made his 100th career start in MLS during the match against New England on March 31.

2017 (FC Dallas): Seitz started 5 games in MLS competition during the 2017 season, and finished with a 3-2-0 record. Seitz Was named Goalkeeper of the Week in CONCACAF Champions League after a three- save performance in a 2-1 win vs. Pachuca in Leg 1 of the CCL Semifinals.

2016 (FC Dallas): In 2016, Seitz had a career year for FC Dallas. The goalkeeper made a career-high 28 appearances for Dallas and finished with a 14-5-9 record . Seitz recorded a career-high 10 shutouts and made 63 saves. He also started in three US Open Cup matches with a 3-0-0 record and recorded one shutout against Houston.

2015 (FC Dallas): Seitz made seven straight MLS appearances to start the season for FC Dallas. The California native finished with a 4-2-1 recorda the goalkeeper produced clean sheets against Seattle, Philadelphia and San Jose. He also played in two US Open Cup matches, with a 1-1-0 record.

2014 (FC Dallas): In 2014, Seitz made 14 appearances and finished the season with a 7-4-3 record. The goalkeeper recorded two clean sheets and made 44 saves. Seitz Recorded a third shutout during a 0-0 draw with Seattle Sounders FC in MLS Cup Playoffs.

2013 (FC Dallas): Seitz’s made first start of the season during a 2-0 shutout victory over his former club, Real Salt Lake on March, 23. The goalkeeper recorded his second shutout of the season in another 2-0 win over the Seattle Sounder on October, 19. He finished the season with a record of 4-2-2 with 24 saves and a 1.38 Goals Against Average. Seitz went 2-1-0 in U.S. Open Cup competition and recorded shutouts in two of those matches.

2012 (FC Dallas): Seitz made four appearances during the 2012 season, recording 10 saves before electing to forgo the remainder of his season in order to donate bone marrow. For his noble act, Seitz was voted was 2012 MLS W.O.R.K.S. Humanitarian of the Year on November 20.

2011 (FC Dallas): Seitz made just one appearance for FC Dallas during the 2011 regular season. He recorded five saves on nine shots on goal during a 4-2 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes on October 22.

2010 (Philadelphia Union): Seitz started 22 matches for Philadelphia Union and logged well-over 2,000 minutes during the 2010 season. The goalkeeper finished the season with a career-high 68 saves. In the match against Seattle on June 27, Seitz saved his first penalty in MLS. He finished the year with a 1.80 GAA and a record of 5-12-6.

2009 (Real Salt Lake): Seitz played four matches for Real Salt Lake during the 2009 season, totaling 13 saves of the 20 shots he faced and ended the season with a 1.25 GAA. The goalkeeper recorded his first career MLS shutout during the 1-0 victory over the Kansas City Wizards on August 29. He was selected by Philadelphia in the 2009 Expansion Draft.

2008 (Real Salt Lake): Chris Seitz did not make an appearance during the 2008 season for Real Salt Lake.

2007 (Real Salt Lake): Seitz made three first-team appearances during his rookie campaign. His debut came against the Colorado Rapids on April 30. Seitz became the second youngest player to start an MLS match between the posts at 20 years, 49 days of age. (Record held by Tim Howard, 19y/165d for MET).

International Experience

In 2007, Seitz represented the United States at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. The goalkeeper started all three matches in the group stage where the United States U-20 squad went 2-1-0 including a 2-1 victory over Brazil. The United States advanced to the Round of 16, although Seitz was an unused substitute. Seitz returned to the starting lineup for the quarterfinal match, but the United States were unable to claim a victory and were knocked out of the tournament. Seitz was named to the U.S. Olympic Team’s 18-man roster for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He served as back-up to Brad Guzan - one of three “overage” players on the U.S. roster for the Summer Games - but did not appear in USA’s three Group B contests.

College Experience

Chris Seitz played two seasons for the University of Maryland and finished with a 28–5–3. He became the first freshman to lead his team to the NCAA title since 1990 and saved a penalty in the final against New Mexico. He finished his college career with 16 shutouts and a .79 goals against average.
