TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
The LA Galaxy are chasing former D.C. United midfielder Perry Kitchen, according to a report on Thursday from ESPN FCās Jeff Carlisle and corroborated on Friday by the Washington Postās Steve Goff.
Kitchen, 25, left D.C. following the 2015 season to join Scottish club Hearts. He appeared in 39 matches in his season-plus with the Edinburgh club before moving to Danish side Randers in July. Heās started 17 of the last-place clubās 19 matches this season.
According to Carlisle, Kitchenās deal at Randers runs for another 18 months. Itās not known if the club would demand any sort of transfer fee in return for Kitchen.
Goff followed up Carlisleās report on Friday, tweeting that LA and D.C. United have had trade talks regarding Kitchenās MLS rights. D.C. still hold Kitchenās rights since they offered him a contract after his initial deal expired following the 2015 season.
Drafted by D.C. with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft, Kitchen was a key player in each of his five seasons with United. He made at least 30 starts in every season he was at the club, recording 10 goals and 10 assists in 158 regular-season appearances with United.
The Galaxy endured the worst season in club history in 2017, finishing tied for last in MLS with 32 points. The club already have central midfielders Jonathan dos Santos, Sebastian Lletget and Joao Pedro on the roster, but declined the contract option of defensive midfielder Jermaine Jones earlier this offseason.
