Khiry Shelton: NYCFC will "pull away with a win" vs. Chicago Fire on FS1

Khiry Shelton - New York City FC - March 13, 2016

Thank you, Khiry Shelton.

This is how you do a pregame interview:

Perhaps it's the confidence that comes with having scored against the Chicago Fire just a few weeks back in Week 1 or perhaps it's frustration that his team has only managed to cobble together two points from a possible nine in its first three home games of the 2016 season at Yankee Stadium. Or maybe he's just itching to play after a bye week.

Whatever it is, Shelton was bringing it in this pregame interview ahead of Sunday night's nationally televised match between NYCFC and the Chicago Fire (7 pm ET on FS1 in USA and MLS LIVE in Canada).

"I expect that we come out with fire and that we pull away with a win," he said.

So NYCFC will "pull away with a win." Well, if you thought you somehow misread that, there's more:

"It’s very important, especially at home," Shelton said "We always want to win at home and this weekend we should be able to do that."

And just in case the point wasn't made clear enough:

"I know that we’re going to counter on their [the Fire's] mistakes," he continued. "I know that for sure. We’ve been working hard in training this week ..."

Too bad the video cuts out right there.

Now, if only the Chicago Fire could get us their counter in the hours left before the big game.
